This position purchases vehicle and facility parts and supplies for inventory, adhering to federal and state regulations and company guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL:

  • Solicits quotes, determines best sources, awards purchase orders, negotiates adjustments with suppliers and evaluates vendor performance.
  • Ensures that materials and services are delivered as specified on purchase orders/contracts and reviews and approves time extensions to existing orders as needed.
  • Chooses the quantity and timing of bulk fluid orders (fuel, antifreeze, oil and soap). Purchases materials from computer generated requisitions.
  • Verifies accuracy of freight bills and submits for payment
  • Represents Materials Handling/Purchasing at meetings concerning Inventory Control and Purchasing

OTHER:

  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree in Business, Purchasing or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in purchasing, inventory control or materials planning, preferably with bus, train, or truck parts, related shop supplies and sources of supply. Maximus and Oracle Purchasing experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient with tracking and replenishing bulk inventories.
  • Proficient with computerized inventory or purchasing system.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite,
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.

Pay Grade/Code: GEN 3

Salary Range: Minimum: $44,804.46- Maximum: $69,446.92

Reports To: Manager, Materials Handling and Purchasing

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,804.00 - $69,447.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
