SUMMARY
The Knitting Programmer creates computer programs for the Stoll knitting machines. Using our Designer’s drawings, tech packs and product requirements they develop and create prototypes that bring the design to life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience with M1 and/or Create Stoll programming systems and competent in creating fully-fashioned, high-end knitted products.
- Work with Designers to confirm specifications are correct before creating computer knitting programs
- Create all required Stoll computer knitting programs for both sampling and bulk production. Applying feedback from departments and design to address knit performance concerns such as stretch, elasticity, firmness of knit, etc.
- Communicate specific instructions to the knitting technician prior to machine setup and knitting commencing.
- Strong knowledge of textile technology and processes (including measurement chart reading, understanding and subsequent grading).
- Knowledge of and experience in using different yarns and compositions, and understanding which yarn is more suitable to which gauge.
- Ability to complete patterns requiring multiple carrier intarsia and complex stitch structures including, but not limited to, wedge knitting, full fashion and special case jacquards.
- Responsible for new style changes and addressing problems associated with the new style
- Work with Knitting Technicians to make sure that machines are running at peak efficiency.
- Assist with machine setups and ongoing training of Knitting Technicians
- Responsible for quality control on the knitting floor ensuring that quality standards are adhered to.
- Stay current with new technology
- Work as a team with all departments to resolve issues
- Keep work area clean and maintain a safe work environment
