Knitting Machine Operator

Straus Knitting Mills located in St. Croix Falls WI is seeking a Knitting Machine Operator for first shift Monday thru Thursday 6am to 4:30pm.

You’ll have a half hour lunch and two paid breaks per shift. You can look forward to free coffee and great quarterly safety incentive meals. Once you’ve completed 90 days you’ll be eligible for healthcare insurance along with dental insurance. We’ll give you eight paid holidays along with two annual paid sick days. You can earn $250.00 a quarter and an additional $1,000.00 for a year in a perfect attendance bonus. There is also a $500.00 employee of the month bonus if you are selected. At one year of full-time employment you’ll receive a week of paid vacation and a 401(k) investment opportunity with a match. In your second year you’ll earn two weeks of paid time off in addition to the eight paid holidays.

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Knitting Machine Operator

REPORTS TO: Knitting Manager

SCOPE OF JOB: Responsible for the operation of assigned knitting

Machines to produce quality knit trim

JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.) Will run assigned knitting machines and produce quality knit that meets or

Exceeds the scheduled capacity for the shift.

2.) Requires constant monitoring of machines.

3.) Keep the machines supplied with yarn.

4.) When a cone is empty, a new cone of yarn is placed on the machine and

Threaded through tension guides and eyelets.

5.) Observation of the product is made regularly, along with four quality checks a

Day, to assure that quality is maintained.

6.) Must be able to recognize poor quality and must not run machines until

The quality is up to expected levels.

7.) Responsible for keeping assigned machines clean, which includes wiping all

Excess oil and grease from machine and blowing off excess lint.

8.) Responsible for keeping assigned knitting area clean, including sweeping down

The floor and removing all yarns not being used.

9.) Must doff all machines and weigh up all fabric.

10.) Must do all color changes and fill out set up sheets, to be approved by

Set-up Team member prior to running.

11.) Must be able to train new personnel.

12.) Responsible for bringing safety concerns or hazards to the attention of the

Section Leader or Production Control Manager.

13.) Change needles.

14.) Fix press offs/ bunch-ups.

15.) Will enter programs for Mecmors.

16.) Will run all knitting machines.

17.) Will recognize styles from looking at fabric.

18.) Responsible for light duty set-up work.

19.) Must be good at following directions.

20.) Must be able to work overtime if necessary.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1.) Must be able to lift 35 pounds occasionally.

2.) Occasionally pull cans weighing 70 pounds 80 feet across the floor.

3.) Must be able to see fabric clearly.

4.) Must be able to distinguish color clearly.

5.) Must be able to use a tape measure.

6.) Constant standing, walking, reaching, and pulling.

7.) Must maintain good attendance.
