Saint Croix is looking for detailed individual who enjoys clothing design and takes pride in aiding in the production of a quality product. They must be diligent at entering the details while detecting similarities, differences or changes in the information or product they are reviewing. The Pattern Maker is the front line to establishing the pattern and communicating the instructions to ensure a repeatable product.
JOB SUMMARY
Pattern Maker creates the blueprint or pattern pieces for a particular apparel design into a pattern of separate parts that can be laid out on the fabric (fronts, backs, sleeves, etc.) They work with designers on the garment details and create a paper pattern from which to mass produce a concept that can be laid out on the length of a fabric. This involves grading or adjusting the pieces to produce different sized garments. They set up markers on the computer to determine the best nesting of pattern pieces to minimize waste of the fabric. This position also has clerical responsibilities that include entering data for bills of material along with maintaining the sweater library.
Hours are Monday - Thursday 7:00AM - 5:00PM and Friday 8:00AM - 12:00 PM

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates pattern marker files for season samples and the Lectra cutting machine for precision cutting and minimal waste. Works with Lectra Operator and Cutting Tech Specialist to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Adds pattern specifications into the computer to assist with pattern design and cutting
- Makes adjustments to patterns after fitting
- Mark samples and finished patterns with information such as garment size, section, style identification and sewing instructions.
- Create a paper pattern from which to mass-produce a design concept that can be laid out on a length of fabric.
- Determine the best layout of patterns to minimize waste.
- Assist with setting up proto packets for knitting
- Learn terminology of the job to become the communication liaison between Design and Production floor related to protypes and roadman issues and changes through final inspection approval.
- Maintain product library via the computer and location.
- Assist with department administrative duties
