Our growing firm is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager specializing in Legal Services to add to our team! If you are a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience in accounts receivable/accounts payable management, check issuing, processing and recording client payments, electronic deposit/payment management, and assisting with client billing we want to hear from you. Compensation: starting salary $85,000, Pay is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
· Maintain and manage all accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR) transactions, controls, and accounting procedures.
· Manage retainer, billing, vendor, and user data both in the billing, accounting, and expense systems.
· Contact clients daily on aging accounts; keep attorney updated on payment status.
· Process payment and write-off transactions.
· Check online banking systems for expected payments as required.
· Process trust withdrawals.
· Manage client payment schedules when a payment program has been agreed, by following up with the client to ensure promised payments are received.
· Update attorneys on any A/R over 45 days as applicable.
· Provide legal assistants with requested invoices / reports.
· Assist with the preparation of tax returns and other compliance requirements.
· Cross-train with Director, HR on payroll duties and insurance to perform in Director, HR absence.
· Process wire transfers.
· Post ACH debits.
· Handle calls from clients with respect to questions concerning billing, collections, and payments
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
· Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role required.
· Law firm or professional service experience is required.
· Familiarity with Clio case management systems a plus.
· Experience with QuickBooks, law accounting and proficiency in Excel required.
· Ability to multi-task, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage time accordingly to meet deadlines and requirements of the organization.
· Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
· Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
