HR Manager – Team Member Relations & Compliance:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, The HR Manager – Team Member Relations & Compliance is a new role which will have a significant impact on fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
The HR Manager will provide support relating to all aspects of team member relations. This involves effectively managing team member complaints, investigations, performance improvement plans, and associated terminations. The HR Manager will also manage HR compliance items such as: annual harassment compliance, annual compliance forms, and review and implementation of the team member manual. The role is critical to ensuring the firm is compliant with employment and labor laws and that all team member relations processes follow the firm’s policies and procedures, legal guidelines, and best practices.
RubinBrown has over 950 team members in six offices, including Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Nashville and St. Louis. This position will be required to travel to our various offices a couple times a year (approximately 5-10%).
Major Responsibilities:
Team Member Relations
- Case Management
- Lead and manage team member relations cases, including investigations, disciplinary actions, performance management, and other employment matters
- Ensure timely and thorough investigations, maintaining accurate documentation and records
- Collaborate with HR Director to ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with firm policies and legal requirements
- Provide regular reports to firm leaders on team member relations metrics, case outcomes, and insights for continuous improvement.
- Establish strong trusting relationships with firm leaders
- Develop a Team Member Relations training program for management group team members in accordance with legal guidelines and firm’s best practices
- Team Member Separations
- Manage separation communications
- Assist with conducting Exit Interviews.
- Analyze data from Exit Interview surveys and report exit themes to key firm leaders
- Team Member Transfers
- Manage communication and approval process
- Ensure HR systems are updated and documentation is properly stored
- Conduct Transfer meetings with team members
- Baker Tilly Exchange Program (Secondment Program)
- Main contact with partnering firm
- Manage logistics for incoming and outgoing secondees
- Team Member Communication
- HR Liaison for team member communications (e.g. emails, brochures, team member flyers, etc.)
- Provides and manages HR content on Intranet
- Assist with the HR process for new firm acquisitions
HR Compliance
- Manage annual HR Compliance processes including: harassment training, annual compliance forms, and employment law postings
- Manage annual review process for team member manual. Update manual throughout the year with new or changing policies
- Collaborate with HR Generalist for compliance regarding local, state, and federal leave laws
- Oversee and ensure compliance with management group agreement process
- Manage employment file and review process
- Manage HR portion of annual audits including, peer review, internal inspection, and SOC2
- Occasional administrative work as necessary to support the activities of the department
- Special projects as assigned by the HR Director
Preferred Experience/Background/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or equivalent
- Professional Human Resources certification (PHR), preferred
- Five to seven years of HR generalist and/or employee relations experience, preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Powerpoint required)
- Excellent client service skills, including the ability to meet challenging client requirements and deadlines, strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of employment laws and practices
- Attention to detail
- Analytical and research ability
- Ability to successfully contribute to the HR team direction through innovation and continuous improvement
- Ability to effectively utilize technology and reporting tools
- Strict adherence to professional ethics
- Evident practice of a high level of confidentiality
Working Conditions:
- The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and deadline expectations
- Travel for this position is approximately 5-10%
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, vendors, etc…
