What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumbing Operations Manager position at Rudd Plumbing, Heating, & Air?
Rudd Plumbing Heating & Air is seeking a Plumbing Operations Manager to build on the successful foundation of our growing plumbing department. Our business mix is primarily existing residential service, remodels, some new construction, and light commercial.
The ideal candidate will come from a $15 M Plumbing or multi-trade company having managed all aspects of meeting and exceeding the daily operational goals of the plumbing team. This previous experience should include development and implementation of strategies to enhance productivity, service system coaching, call by call management of technicians, budgetary oversight, guiding team members career progression, identifying efficiency improvement opportunities, and ultimately increase departmental profitability.
- Maintain efficient job scheduling by coordinating with Dispatchers for optimized logistical routes and right tech/right call to maximize the board
- Manage and train Field Techs on our Service System and ServiceTitan processes, ensuring they provide high-quality service, present options inGood/Better/Best format, follow company policies and safety guidelines and ultimately meet or exceed departmental KPIs (i.e. average ticket, close rate, call backs, etc)
- Call by Call Management as needed to ensure KPIs are being met
- Review calls in real time to provide feedback, both praise and improvement opportunities
- Perform two (2) monthly 1:1 meetings with each Plumbing Technician, once in office and once in the field as a ride-along
- Identify opportunities for improvement with Plumbing Technician, create a plan to address areas needing attention, and coach through the process
- Find and bid on Plumbing project opportunities through various platforms, networking, business development, and leveraging existing relationships
- Review and interpret blueprints to ensure Plumbing designs and installations meet project specifications
- Coordinate with Warehouse Manager and Technicians to monitor inventory levels and manage purchasing of necessary equipment and supplies
- Attend weekly Managers Meeting, Quarterly Meetings, annual Business Planning Workshop, and lead regular meetings reporting on state of the PLU department
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on operational performance, including financial analyses, to review with ownership
- Take escalated technical calls as well as customer concerns
- Identify and schedule training opportunities for the Plumbing department
- Run PLU and Electrical electrical calls as needed
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance and competitiveness
- Represent the company at community events, networking opportunities, trade shows, conferences, etc. as well as travel to National and Regional Conferences
- Actively participate and network through peer groups, online forums, webinars, etc.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to complete jobs and company benchmarks

Requirements
- 15 years overall Plumbing experience with at least 5 of those years successfully managing a Plumbing business unit
- Strong knowledge of plumbing best practices, codes, systems and operations
- Ability to analyze real-time performance data to provide corrective measures as needed
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in ServiceTitan and Microsoft Excel
- Multi-trade, multi-location experience is a plus, but not required
- Previous experience and training with a Peer Network company such as Nexstar or Service Nation is a strong plus
