Mechanical Engineering Associate
Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineering Associate looking for a dynamic opportunity to work on diverse projects in a collaborative, employee-owned environment? Axiom Consultants, a 100% employee-owned Ruekert & Mielke company, is expanding our Building Services team and seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our growing operations in Iowa and Wisconsin. As a Mechanical Engineering Associate, you will be a key part of our Mechanical group, reporting directly to the Mechanical Discipline Lead. You will engage in standalone mechanical design projects or collaborate with our Electrical/Technology group to deliver MEPT (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Technology) documents. Our Building Services Team partners with Structural and Civil groups to provide full-service engineering designs for a variety of project types, including commercial, educational, institutional, industrial, multi-family, and mixed-use developments.

Goals & Responsibilities:
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
- Design and develop commercial mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Utilize Autodesk Revit and commercial HVAC design software to create detailed system designs.
- Coordinate with electrical, structural, and civil engineering teams to produce integrated, full-service designs.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and external partners through formal design meetings, BIM model integration, and site visits.
- Perform quality control reviews of mechanical designs and construction documents.
- Utilize Bluebeam Revu and Autodesk Construction Cloud for documentation and workflow management.
- Conduct existing building walkdowns, property analyses, and construction administration support.
- Provide exceptional client service by maintaining strong communication, responsiveness, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
Required:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and commercial HVAC design software
- Experience in commercial HVAC design, plumbing system design, and schematic fire protection design
- Strong team collaboration and client coordination skills
- Ability to create and review construction documents and perform quality control checks
Preferred:
- FE Exam Pass – EIT Certification
- Experience with geothermal design, electrical system integration, and HVAC equipment rep integration
- Familiarity with COMCheck/Energy Analysis, NICET III Certification, and septic system integration
- Knowledge of AutoCAD MEPT and specification development
