We are looking for a capable Project Manager/Project Coordinator to serve within our Building Services Department. The Building Services Department at Axiom comprises our Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering staff as well as professional project managers and coordinators for the entire team. This position will provide critical management and support to the department working with all of its disciplines – structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering. The position will also coordinate outside architectural partners – who are both working for us and whom we are subcontracted too. This position involves a tremendous amount of owner coordination. This position will involve critical thinking skills, requires adaptable and flexible attitude, and requires provision of unmatched client service day in and day out. This is a position that is anything but “rinse and repeat” with a lot of job variation and differentiated tasks. It involves a tremendous work ethic, great personal drive and organization, and a huge amount of flexibility. This position will serve under the guidance of the Building Services Team Leader and the Senior Building Services Project Manager.
The successful candidate for this position will be extremely detailed, forward-thinking, and problem-solving. Being a self-starter and incredibly diligent with task and schedule management are key. A background in design and construction are highly desirable – the ideal candidate may have served as a Project Manager for an Engineering, Architectural, on General Contracting company in the past. They will work on planning, design, and construction tasks with the biggest focus being on back-end services. Planning services will include due diligence tasks – coordinating and contracting subs, scheduling due diligence specialty services, determination of AHJ requirements, client check-ins, permitting, and kickoff meetings. Design coordination tasks will include scheduling, deliverables tracking, coordination of teams, holding page turn meetings, specification creation, assembly of plans, invoicing, and tracking of staff progress. Construction phase tasks will include meetings (both on site and remote), tracking of requests for information, creation of instructions to contractors, shop drawing reviews, review of pay applications, construction progress reporting, meeting minutes, punchlist creation, closeout documents, and more.
This opportunity provides for mentorship and instruction, where necessary. The ideal candidate may not be skilled in all of these areas but will have the opportunity to learn some of these skills from their manager and other project management staff. Prior experience with construction, scheduling, engineering design, specifications, progress reporting, team coordination, presentations, marketing, and drafting all a plus. Candidates should highlight their experience in these areas if they have it. In this role you will work daily to complete timely work with expectations for frequent and quick changes in task requirements.
This is a unique, fast-paced, and highly adaptable job requiring a unique skillset and proper mindset. Ability to learn, adapt, drive processes, and balance numerous projects at once are all absolutely required.
