What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Liaison position at Rumney Marsh Academy?
The Bilingual Family Liaison in Revere Public Schools (RPS) is a school-based position responsible for building the capacity of schools to authentically and meaningfully engage families. The Liaison’s primary role is to work with school administrators, teachers, and staff to promote family engagement activities that create strong school-family partnerships to support teaching and learning, student achievement, and school improvement. This also includes working with staff to create a welcoming environment that values parents as equal partners in their children’s education and serve as a bridge between school and home in ways that build trustful relationships, foster understanding, and address each stakeholder’s needs. The Bilingual Family Liaison reports to the Family Liaison and Language Access Coordinator who reports to and coordinates with the Assistant Superintendent of Equity and Inclusion to ensure that the established goals and performance expectations for the school year are met with success.

- At least 3 years of experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse families in an urban setting and knowledge of their specific needs
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in dominant home language of the families of the desired school
- Ability to take initiative in coordinating and organizing activities and events;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings and weekends based on school, family, and district needs;
- Ability to employ tact and sound judgement in dealing with sensitive issues/challenging situations.
- Strong organization skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
- Ability to accurately collect, organize and maintain data and information for reports;
- Ability to create and maintain strong community collaborations;
- Some experience in developing and/or leading interactive workshops and trainings
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills and content;
- Demonstrated cultural proficiency and ability to lead others in conversations of race and culture;
- Deep knowledge and understanding of, and demonstrated ability to connect with the ethnic background of students and families served.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- Associate Degree or equivalent work experience
- Have at least one child in RPS
