Running Man Neighborhood is currently seeking a summer Assistant Coach for our 2025 season. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside the Head Coach in helping to develop and inspire swimmers of all skill levels. The Assistant Coach will be responsible for supporting the training and development of athletes, ensuring their progress in both individual and team goals.
Full Job Description:
The Running Man Manta Rays Assistant Swim Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to support all aspects of the swim team’s operations. This includes assisting with practice sessions, preparing swimmers for meets, helping with the coordination of social events, supporting the planning of end of season banquet, and working with parent volunteers. The competitive season runs from late May through late July. The Assistant Coach will play a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive environment that promotes the development of swimming skills, teamwork, and lasting summer memories. The team typically consists of 60-100 swimmers, ages 4 to 18.
Criteria for the Position:
- Experience: Previous coaching experience in swimming or another sport and experience as a competitive swimmer is preferred.
- Qualifications: Lifeguard Certification, CPR, First Aid or requirement to obtain certifications upon hire.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively with athletes, parents, and team staff.
- Knowledge of Swimming: A solid understanding of swim techniques, training methods, and competitive strategies.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and other team staff to support a positive and effective training environment.
- Motivation and Enthusiasm: A genuine passion for the sport and a commitment to helping athletes reach their full potential.
- Flexibility: Availability to assist with practices, meets, and team events, as well as adapting to various swimmer needs.
- Age Requirement: Minimum age of 18 years old.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and conducting training sessions.
- Provide individual feedback and support to swimmers during practices.
- Help manage and supervise the team during swim meets and events.
- Foster a positive, disciplined, and motivated team environment.
- Assist in the development of training plans and conditioning programs.
- Communicate regularly with the Head Coach regarding swimmer progress and team needs.
- Ensure safety protocols and training best practices are followed.
- Attendance is required at all practices, swim meets, and other team events to include, but not limited to:
- GPSA Season Meets plus Time Trails
- 8 and Under Meet
- City Meet
- RMMR Banquet
