Job Summary
The Shop Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations within the shop environment. This position is responsible for managing a team of skilled workers, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities and a solid understanding of machine shop and production management practices, including proficiency in relevant software and tools.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate activities of shop personnel to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Utilize management software such as JobBoss2 and QuickBooks for project scheduling and tracking.
- Conduct quality control inspections to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Manage the use of tools and equipment, including micrometers, dial calipers and dial indicators, ensuring they are maintained and used safely.
- Interpret schematics and engineering drawings to guide project execution.
- Collaborate with project and operations managers to develop schedules and allocate resources effectively.
- Train and mentor team members on best practices in assembly techniques and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
Experience
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a hydraulic repair or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with accounting and production management software.
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling techniques and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematics and blueprints.
- Experience with quality control processes in a production setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
