Job Description
General Description: (Job Summary) Provides secretarial and clerical duties, create a positive impression, assures all patient demographic and insurance information is correct and assists in medical office operations to assure efficiency.
Education, Training and Experience (Qualifications): High school diploma required. Medical office experience and scheduling required. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer knowledge/proficiency; balancing and reconciling patient charges and payments. Knowledge of customer service i.e. creating a caring atmosphere, advocating for patients, handling questions, etc.; EMR, data input, insurances, billing, medical terminology, scheduling, etc.

Machines and Equipment Used: Prevailing office machines, equipment and supplies
Answer all in-coming calls in a professional and courteous manner.
Remove phones from answering service and place on service according to established hours of Operation.
Screen and route calls, take messages and provide information as appropriate.
Schedule, cancel and reschedule appointments.

Greet and register patients promptly and in a pleasant, helpful manner.
Document, follow up and reschedule no-show appointments.
Verify and revise existing patient demographic and insurance information. Scan insurance cards in to the system.
Verify eligibility for Medical assistance.
Notify patients of non-covered services and obtain patient signature for Medicare or Medical Assistance Notification of Responsibility.
Determine sliding fee scale in Electronic Medical Records Inform patient and make every effort to collect previous balances.
Collect cash, check and credit card payments for co-pays and other applicable payments at time of Service.
At end of day, reconcile daily activities per the HER, print summary and forward to Main Office.
Prepare daily bank deposit slips, prepare daily deposit log.
Scan operative and ancillary test reports in EMR as needed.
Process referrals and patient information for primary care physicians, specialists and insurance carriers as needed.
Enter annual recalls, immunizations, pre-natal tracking, EPSDT Screening, Forms, family planning, etc.
Perform tasks required for audits of medical records.
Assist with completion of patient disability claim forms, leave of absence, return to work/school and other forms as requested.
Abstract and complete transfers for medical records; obtain appropriate signature for release of medical records according to policies as needed.
Assist in the care and maintenance of office equipment; reorder office supplies as needed.
Perform other duties within capabilities as assigned by supervisor or executive staff.
Adhere to all personnel policies in the conduct of personal and employment matters.
