This is a full-time, on-site position for a Payroll Benefits Specialist. The Payroll Benefits Specialist will manage full-cycle in-house payroll tasks, including payroll benefits administration. Responsibilities include processing, reconciling, and auditing payroll to ensure accuracy. The role also involves handling employee benefits inquiries, assisting with benefits enrollments and reconciliations, and providing customer service related to payroll and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate pay and deductions, issue checks for weekly payroll, and ensure accurate and timely payment to employees.
  • Collect, calculate, and enter payroll data into the system, and retrieve information as needed.
  • Update payroll records with changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end calculations of bonuses and other salary-based compensation.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and collaborating with HR.
  • Provide payroll information and address questions and requests from employees.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Prepare and process claims, enrollments, and other benefits filings, and assist employees in understanding the company’s benefits packages and their options.
  • Assist in planning and administering the annual open enrollment period.
  • Plan, conduct, and report results of audits to ensure accurate enrollments and correct dependent information.
  • Resolve discrepancies between carriers and payroll.
  • Follow policies and procedures, report needed changes, and ensure compliance with payroll operations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing and a general understanding of benefits administration is required.
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles is advantageous, particularly with a focus on accounts payable.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills are essential, with a keen attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is necessary.
  • A positive attitude and self-motivation are crucial for success in this role.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft GP (Great Plains) is a plus, though not required.
