Summary: The Charge Description Master (CDM) Coordinator is responsible for the continual maintenance of the CDM and related billing edits. Job duties consist of researching current and upcoming applicable regulations and implementing all necessary revisions for maximum hospital reimbursement and compliant billing. Responsibilities include the manual entry of specific charge description master requests and the coordination of research, training, and communication with hospital administrators affected. The position requires an ongoing audit of prices, CPT/HCPCS and revenue code compatibility for accurate billing detail and compliance regulations. The position requires the continual update of all CDM related policies and procedures as necessary. Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for maintaining all CDM requests made throughout the hospital for technical charge code additions, revisions, and deletions. 2. Each request must be thoroughly reviewed for accurate prices, CPT/HCPCS, and revenue code compatibility. 3. Once CDM requests are approved, coordinates with Information Systems counterparts to have charge code created in EHR system and applicable charging workflow for requesting department. 4. A primary duty consists of researching all current and future complex Medicare requirements for maximum reimbursement and billing compliance guidelines. 5. Assist in the coordination of training and contact information necessary for the proper implementation of the new charge integrity/CDM software vendors. 6. Necessary for accurate CDM maintenance, the job requires independently identifying areas of concentration throughout the hospital, coordinating training methods, and communication of current issues to hospital administrators responsible for proper identification of services rendered. 7. Utilizes knowledge of correct coding guidelines to ensure the requesting department understands the proper usage of new CDM requests. 8. Partners with IS to validate new EHR build that involves charge capture/entry 9. Continuous monitoring and tracking involved in the reduction of CDM bill holds as the Billing Exception Unit identifies them. 10. Implementation of new strategies, procedures or computer applications necessary for time efficiency and productivity. 11. Work in conjunction with Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance to resolve of CDM issues. 12. Willingness to engage in continual education and training in the subject field 13. Assigned to special projects as they occur.
