JOB SUMMARY

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the hospital setting included but not limited to the emergency department and patient transfer settings. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility with a minimum of supervision. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

Demonstrates ability to complete applicable competencies

Demonstrates ability to give and follow instructions accurately

Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various health care personnel, law enforcement, fire personnel and bystanders

Must possess and maintain a valid Operator’s License from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles with a clean driving record

The employee must be 21 or older to drive RMH vehicles and have a driving record that is eligible to meet the satisfactory driving record standard conducted during the background check to be eligible for the position.

The applicant's job offer is contingent on eligibility and if the applicant does not have a valid driver's license or has a driving record that falls at or below the criteria, the applicant will not be hired for positions where driving is an essential job function.

Paramedic program curriculum and contents

Education-

High school diploma or equivalent

Must have successfully completed an accredited Paramedic program

Must hold certification from the Indiana State Emergency Medical Services Commission as a Paramedic

Must have successfully completed American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support courses

Experience-

A minimum of 1 year of previous Emergency Medical Services experience preferred

Extensive exposure to confidential information or matters

Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, healthcare personnel, physicians, patients, volunteers, visitors and outside agency personnel
