Summary
The Plant Maintenance Technician will focus on plant equipment and property maintenance. At times, and as needed, this position will also serve as a plant operator and truck loader.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform plant maintenance duties, including:
- Performing highly diversified duties to maintain the plant equipment
- General preventative maintenance of pump and valve systems
- Providing emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performing scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Performing maintenance duties including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines
- Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Diagnosing problems, replacing, or repairing parts, testing, and making adjustments
- Using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Detecting faulty operations and reporting those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
- Complying with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas
- Perform plant operator duties as needed including
- Open and close valves for production transfers
- Equipment operations
- Periodic inspection of tanks
- Weigh-in trucks, pre- and post-loading
- Load emulsion trucks
- General labor
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment
- All other duties as assigned
Skills and Education
Required
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a trade program, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
- Well-established organizational skills with strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
- Must be willing and able to perform plant operator and maintenance duties
Preferred
- 4 years of manufacturing experience; strong mechanical and industrial skills experience
Job Requirements
- Ability to work in a team environment with laboratory and other plant personnel, as well as the ability to work independently without close supervision
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Willingness to be flexible in scheduling
- Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds, work on elevated platforms, occasionally enter confined spaces, and tolerate scents common to fuels and asphalt operation
- Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular movement of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular walking and standing
- Ability to see, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
Work Environment
This position requires its responsibilities to be performed in an asphalt emulsions manufacturing plant. Plants are outdoors and may require that work be done in adverse weather conditions. Work conditions may involve exposure to hot materials, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, gases, and other substances used in a construction environment.
