Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service while managing administrative tasks in a fast-paced medical environment. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and the ability to navigate eClinicalWorks health record systems.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression of the clinic.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments efficiently, utilizing eClinicalWorks scheduler.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting necessary information and documentation.
- Handle phone inquiries with professionalism, demonstrating strong phone etiquette while addressing patient concerns or directing calls appropriately.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assist with insurance verification, including Medicare and other insurance plans, to facilitate smooth billing processes.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence to support office operations.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure efficient workflow within the clinic environment.
- Assist with in office procedures like Rapid Strep test, EKG, Ear Lavage and vaccines.
- Assist with Prior Authorization (PA) referencing previous encounters.
- Stay updated on medical coding practices and terminology to assist with billing inquiries as needed.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant in a clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as eClinical Works is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients and healthcare professionals alike.
