Otter Valley is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and collaborative, full-time vocal music teacher to fill a vacancy beginning in the 25-26 school year. The position is configured to focus primarily on choral music from Grades 7-12. The teacher will work with students in a variety of formats, including a general music class, middle and high school choral ensembles, small-group lessons, and music elective courses. Otter Valley has a strong history in the arts, and the arts have seen outstanding administrative and community support.
Stipended opportunities above and beyond the normal teacher schedule include voice coaching for our yearly musical and extra honor ensembles. We encourage candidates with a variety of backgrounds, including those outside of traditional education, to apply for this role.Job ResponsibilitiesAll Otter Valley teachers are expected to: implement standards-aligned units of study and engaging lessonsuse content-specific pedagogical techniques to engage learnersuse assessment to inform instruction throughout the learning processcreate positive classroom cultures focused on relationships, inclusive practices, and reciprocal trustscollaborate effectively with colleagues to improve teaching methods and ensure supports are in place for all studentsRequirements specific to this position include: Support and expand a successful music programDevelop strategies for increasing participation in the music program in partnership with the instrumental music teacher and the school administrationDevelop meaningful relationships and a positive climate with students in the classroom, in the broader music program, and as an advisor to a group of studentsFacilitate experiences beyond the classroom and school day to engage students in the music program, including supporting students in participating district and regional ensemblesImplement lessons and units aligned to the National Core Arts StandardsUtilize strong communication and publicity skills to be an advocate for the arts in our communityEducation, Training and Experience RequirementsMust be eligible or possess Vermont State Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach Music K-12.Strong background in choral/voice pedagogy and performance.Strong piano experience is a bonus.Interested candidates should apply on schoolspring.com to: Michael Ruppel, Principal
