We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Food Service Plant Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our food manufacturing and packaging facility. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in food production, quality control, and packaging processes, with a proven track record in managing food service operations to ensure high-quality and safe food products are delivered efficiently.
- Lead the daily operations of the food manufacturing and packaging facility, coordinating production schedules, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure smooth execution of processes.
- Align operations with company objectives to consistently deliver timely, high-quality food products while meeting customer demands.
- Provide effective supervision and leadership for all direct reports, including the Operations Manager, Production Manager, Quality Control Manager, and Accounts Representative.
- Lead the Quality Control team to implement and uphold rigorous quality assurance (QA) processes that ensure all products meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Foster a collaborative environment to meet production targets, food safety standards, and operational goals.
- Oversee operational costs and manage budgets to ensure financial efficiency while meeting production goals.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives that do not compromise product quality, food safety, or customer satisfaction.
- Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to food production, packaging volume, downtime, defect rates, and employee efficiency.
- Regularly update senior management on plant performance and areas for improvement.
- Maintain strict compliance with all food safety and health regulations, including FDA, USDA, and industry-specific standards.
- Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, industry regulations, and food safety standards.
- Ensure that all procedures within the plant adhere to both safety and quality assurance guidelines to guarantee safe food products for consumption.
- Oversee procurement and supplier relations to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of ingredients, packaging, and materials, while maintaining compliance with quality standards and regulations.
- Identify inefficiencies within the production and packaging processes and lead the development of corrective actions and improvements.
- Drive process optimization to enhance production speed, quality, and safety, ensuring that food products are consistently delivered on time and in excellent condition.
- Enforce plant-wide safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations and maintaining a safe and compliant working environment for all employees involved in food production and packaging.
- Maintain proactive communication with vendors and customers regarding production timelines, product quality, and any issues related to food manufacturing or packaging.
- Ensure alignment with customer expectations and food safety standards.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 OSHA Safety Certifications or equivalent. Inventory management and barcode scanning systems experience or equivalent.
- Safety Certifications: HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), SQF (Safe Quality Food), ServSafe or equivalent food safety training.
- At least 5 years of food manufacturing and packaging experience in an FDA approved manufacturing facility
- Minimum of 5-10 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to track real-time production activities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Proven expertise in inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
- Proven expertise working with Salesforce, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and/or Marketing Cloud.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to lead and manage change within a fast-paced and dynamic production environment.
- Advanced proficiency in data analytics tools.
- Advanced knowledge in industry-specific safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, OSHA).
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of customer requirements and the ability to ensure that production aligns with customer expectations.
- Extended periods of standing while overseeing production processes and managing teams.
- May involve walking, lifting, or carrying materials up to 20 pounds or more.
