RWC, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-speed automated assembly and welding equipment has an opening for a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates activities of the Purchasing Department to cost effectively purchase quality materials and component parts for RWC products to meet predetermined production schedules. Hires, trains, and supervises personnel within his/her assigned area. Coordinates Purchasing Department functions with other RWC departments and outside vendors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Hires, trains, evaluates, promotes and disciplines Purchasing personnel in accordance with established company policies.
  • Guides the Purchasing staff as to the most efficient methods of purchasing material and component parts to engineering specifications and manufacturing schedules.
  • Develops productivity improvements through employee participation and/or suggestions.
  • Acts as a resource to other RWC personnel on all matters relating to purchasing, e.g., writing contract specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Applications, and Finance, the delivery, price and quality requirements of present and future goods and services.
  • Assists the various departments of RWC as required in the formulation, approvals, and implementation of their goals, objectives and respective budgets.
  • Analyzes material cost and cost projections on jobs currently in construction. Compares Application's estimate with actual cost and projecting cost variances for WIP and profit forecasting.
  • Administers and enforces Company and legislated policies, rules, regulations and safety standards in assigned area in order to comply with legal requirements and to minimize the Company’s potential for liability.
  • Projects Purchasing cash flow needs and advises Finance of any difference between Purchasing needs and cash available.
  • Solicits bids from and negotiates with vendors to obtain the best price and terms consistent with RWC cash flow restraints.
  • Maintains vendor relationships which allow RWC maximum credit terms.
  • Develops, implements and monitors purchasing cost reduction programs to maintain the competitive position of RWC.
  • Formulates, obtains approval, implements goals, objectives and budgets for the Purchasing function.
  • Guides the vendor approval process ensuring consistent quality and on time deliveries within budget cost estimates.
  • Holds RWC vendor relationships consistent with highest integrity in dealing with vendors.
  • Responsible for maintaining operations consistent with ISO-9001 standards and procedures.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of materials and purchasing procedures, legal concept and business practices and techniques equivalent to those normally associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Technical ability to read and interpret complex engineering specifications and drawings related to machine assembly and electrical machine control normally associated with five years of purchasing experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills necessary to organize, distribute work load and coordinate work of Purchasing Department, and administer a defined budget normally associated with two years of supervisory experience.
  • Analytical skills necessary to properly schedule department personnel and determine accurate material costs, quality and delivery date.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager Certificate and ability to keep it updated a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to keep abreast of the changes occurring in the purchasing field and have the ability to incorporate the necessary changes within the department.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills, and the ability to adapt to all applicable software.
  • Must be able to work in a team work environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment with little or no discomfort due to noise, dust, temp, etc.
  • Occasional exposure to the manufacturing process with slightly higher noise levels.
  • Occasional international and domestic travel, including ground and air travel.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the Vice President of Operations.
  • Overall responsibility for the Purchasing Department including, Senior Buyer.
