About the position
Our sterile pharmacy technicians play a crucial role in the preparation of sterile medications.
The core duty of a sterile compounding pharmacy technician is to prepare sterile medications following specific formulations and guidelines. This may involve compounding powders, liquids, or injections to create custom-made sterile products tailored to individual patient needs. Their responsibilities primarily revolve around ensuring the safe and accurate compounding of sterile pharmaceutical products.
This role involves compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining high productivity, and ensuring the proper handling and storage of medications. The technician will work in the intravenous cleanroom suite, preparing sterile products, managing inventory, and assisting with inspections and quality control processes.
Responsibilities include:
· Measures, weighs, counts, and compounds medications
· Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to formulation logs
· Establishes and maintains accurate patient records by entering correct lot numbers and expiration dates of compounded medications
· Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs
· Preparation and compounding of sterile products
· Maintaining the pharmacy clean room suite to USP 797 requirements
· Experience using a repeater pump
· Inventory management and storage, complete appropriate documentation, such as labels, log sheets and reports
· Clean equipment and sterilize glassware using dry heat ovens or autoclaves
· Performs to established efficiency metrics while adhering to quality standards
· Maintains compliance with Company and HIPAA patient confidentiality requirements
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Perform sterile compounding functions in a Category 3 clean room
· Set up sterile products for dispensing and make appropriate record entries.
· Maintain a high degree of accuracy and productivity in patient care contributions.
· Monitor physical inventory and notify procurement of stock levels and shortages.
· Participate in glove fingertip and media fill testing to maintain competencies.
Requirements
· Must hold an active Texas Pharmacy Technician License
· One year of experience in a sterile environment
· Knowledge of sterile compounding concepts and principles.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour
