The Superintendent, Maintenance leads and manages the overall operations of a designated area to deliver safe performance, maximize financial returns achieve department and mill objectives, and continuously improve productivity and quality. Scope of responsibilities includes safety and housekeeping, quality, productivity, financial management, environmental compliance, capital improvements, and human resource management for the area on a 24 / 7 basis.
How you’ll shape the future of the Maintenance Department :
- Review daily operations reports with the operations department manager and area operations superintendents to identify issues needing immediate as well as longer term repairs or corrections. Drive corrections of the noted issues.
- Coordinate preventative / predictive maintenance program; activity participate in maintenance planning and scheduling. Audit operating areas frequently to assess maintenance requirements.
- Champion both departmental and facility safety policies; audit workplace for compliance; provide mechanics safety training as needed; and verify effectiveness of training. Hold periodic safety meetings with mechanics and supervisors to discuss specific potential hazards. Work with safety professionals to remove systemic sources of injury to employees.
- Ensure timely review of all operating information & assist to resolve unfavorable trends. Understand daily operating costs and provide internal “flags” to highlight inefficiencies.
- Oversee maintenance personnel in the designated operational area; insure safe and efficient operation of area maintenance.
- Resolve labor issues expeditiously. Involve Human Resources department in labor disputes and / or disciplinary actions.
