Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on cost data to support strategic decision-making. This role will play a key part in improving cost efficiency, enhancing financial transparency, and supporting inventory and production management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze and monitor costs of goods sold (COGS), labor, overhead, and variances.
• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for manufacturing, production, and procurement departments.
• Conduct inventory valuations, reconciliations, and cycle counts; ensure accuracy in inventory reporting.
• Work closely with operations and supply chain to provide insights on cost trends and performance.
• Maintain and improve standard costing system, including BOMs (Bill of Materials) and routings.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions to improve profitability and process efficiency.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing cost-related documentation and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls related to cost accounting.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA is a plus).
• 3 years of experience in cost accounting - Experience in construction, security systems, or service-based project accounting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of costing methods, standard cost systems, and inventory accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, ServiceTitan, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of Percentage-of-Completion (PoC) and Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
