Job Description: Remote Family Law Attorney
Position Overview:
We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Associate Attorney (Min 3 years of trial experience) to join our dynamic remote legal team. As a Family Law Associate with S.A. Stevenson Law Offices, you will be part of a positive and progressive work environment, where team members are encouraged to prioritize health and wellness. You will play a crucial roll in managing a family law docket while gaining experience and training in the areas of trusts & estates and business law. This position is ideal for an attorney who is eager to further their trial experience, deepen their business acumen, and strengthen a working knowledge of how to provide personalized legal services using innovation and technology. Candidate must be a self-starter, well-organized and be able to communicate effectively. This position is 100% remote.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies, conduct legal research, and provide insightful analysis on complex legal issues.
- Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and other court filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to court rules.
- Demonstrate proficiency in pre-trial discovery procedures, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, conducting document reviews, and preparing deposition outlines.
- Participate actively in settlement negotiations, working closely with clients and opposing parties to achieve favorable resolutions whenever possible.
- Leverage your courtroom experience to confidently represent clients during hearings, motions, and trials under the guidance of senior attorney.
- Effectively communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders, maintaining professionalism and providing regular case updates.
- Manage and organize case documents, maintain case files, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Contribute to trial preparation by assisting in the selection of witnesses, preparing trial exhibits, and collaborating on trial strategy.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated on legal trends and changes.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, sharing insights, ideas, and participating in team discussions.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
-Maryland Bar required (DC and/or VA Bar preferred)
- At least 3 years of courtroom experience, including participating in hearings and trials.
- Law clerk experience preferred, with exposure to legal research, case analysis, and document drafting.
- Mock trial experience is highly valued, showcasing your ability to present legal arguments effectively.
- Strong understanding of legal procedures, principles, and practices.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to independently draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Proficiency in pre-trial discovery techniques and settlement negotiations.
- Enthusiasm for trial work and a desire to gain hands-on trial experience.
- Detail-oriented approach with excellent organizational skills.
- Adaptability and willingness to grow with the business and take on new challenges.
- Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
