What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cross Reference Analyst - Pricing position at S.P. Richards Company?
This position is the primary owner of the SPR Product Cross Reference database. This person is responsible for developing and maintaining this database which equips our Sales team with product information they need to grow revenue and increase market share. This person maintains existing and creates new cross references by conducting product research as well as collaborating with other teams (Sales, Vendor Representatives, Merchandizing, Marketing, and Pricing).
A successful candidate will have strong product research skills, excellent computer and interpersonal skills, and high attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Location: Smyrna, GA (Near Battery Center)
Work Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
Maintain a robust Cross Reference Database
- Identify competitor SKUS and their matching SPR SKUs
- Identify internal SPR cross references – suggest substitutes when key SPR items are out of stock
- Update cross references when alerted of Stock Number Changes, pack size changes, or SKU discontinuations
- Maintain existing data and remove obsolete data
- Maintain and update all cross reference related documentation (e.g., manuals, FAQs, etc.)
- Develop and continuously improve efficient cross-referencing processes
- Conduct manual cross reference research as needed
- Conduct Cross Reference analysis to identify product portfolio gaps and opportunities
- Develop novel ways of grouping similar products through the lens of what the customer values and how they view products when making purchasing decisions
- Create and maintain additional product attribute data that enables Pricing Team to assign logical and consistent prices based on core properties of the product
Respond to Customer and Internal Cross-Reference Requests
- Provide product cross-references for new business, bids, and existing customers
- Recommend strategic product matches by use of data, product specifications research, and industry knowledge
- Respond to cross-reference requests in a timely manner

- Understanding of data models and relational database concepts
- Experience with price and product data web scraping
- Product knowledge/expertise in office products and janitorial/sanitation products
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business or STEM fields is required
- Expert at using Excel (e.g. macros, complex formulas, pivot tables, powerquery)
- Ability to create/run SQL statements
- Working knowledge of Product Information Management systems, such as Enable and relational databases such as FileMaker
