Position Overview
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance per industry standards of Manufacturing and the Oil and Gas industries. This position is critical as it involves the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies that keep both human health and ecological considerations at the forefront. The EHS Manager's responsibilities are diverse and require a proactive approach to both prevent incidents and respond effectively when they occur.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health, safety and environmental policies in accordance with legal and Company guidelines.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop preventative strategies.
- Organize EHS training for employees to ensure awareness and understanding of the Company’s safety and environmental practices.
- Monitor compliance with policies and procedures, performing site inspections and preparing detailed reports on findings.
- Leading safety and environmental response initiatives and conducting investigations after incidents to establish causes and preventative measures.
- Advising on a range of specialist areas – fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, occupational diseases, waste management, etc.
- Maintaining current knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements related to the health, safety and environmental matters that impact the organization.
- Collaborating with executive leadership to maintain compliance standards.
- Overseeing environmental performance and adherence to legal environmental standards.
- Handling or supervising EHS and regulatory audits both internal and external.
- Coordinating with Human Resources to ensure physical examinations and medical clearances are completed per the Company’s policies.
- Managing and leading a team of safety professionals and/or environmental specialists.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
- Conducts regular site visits and inspections.
- Reviews incident reports.
- Supervise the inspection, audit, and calibrating of all safety equipment as needed.
- Supervise the maintenance of documentation of the Company’s safety procedures, incidents, and related events.
- Supervise the management of waste in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies/customers.
- Willingness and ability to travel when needed. This job will require travel.
- Other duties and assignments as assigned by a Vice President, Director or Manager.
