What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at S&W Wholesale Foods?
Position Summary
The Buyer Position will be responsible for procuring items from vendors and effectively managing such inventory in regards to ordering and replenishing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sourcing and replenishment of various food and non-food items
- Category Management Cycle on responsible categories
- Maintain accurate acquisition costs
- Maintain inventory goals as assigned by management
- Keeping supplier and item information up to date in both the host system and replenishment software package
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Proven experience in as a Buyer or in a similar role.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JDA, etc.) is a plus, but not required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years experience in food procurement, preferable in supply chain or category management.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field (preferred).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
