Job Title: Geotechnical Instrumentation Project Manager

Position Details:

SA Engineering, LLC (SAE) is currently seeking a Geotechnical Instrumentation Project Manager with 10 years experience of geotechnical monitoring, to join our team at our Edison, New Jersey office. The Geotechnical Instrumentation Project Manager will oversee and supervise all monitoring work performed in the field at large construction project sites and remotely in the office. We are seeking a professional who can work independently with vast knowledge and experience in design, installation, and maintenance of geotechnical instrumentation systems. The selected candidate will be supported by our full instrumentation team and senior professional engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare instrumentation/monitoring proposals and cost estimates based on contract drawings and agency requirements.
  • Prepare and provide instrumentation monitoring plans, installation and reporting data evaluation for submission to regulatory agencies to monitor construction
  • Construction projects will include foundations, tunneling, excavation support systems, ground improvement, and environmental work
  • Responsibilities include designing, installing and maintaining instrumentation systems; collecting and interpreting monitoring data; preparing and writing reports.
  • Experience and understanding of these systems which include monitoring using automated total stations, inclinometers, vibrating wire piezometers, and borehole extensometers
  • Supervise and monitor staff in the installation and commissioning of a variety of instrumentation equipment (optical targets/prisms, vibration monitors, strain gauges, tiltmeters, crack monitors, vibrating wire piezometers, inclinometers, etc)
  • Monitoring of inclinometers, extensometers, vibrating wire piezometers, observation wells and seismographs
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting upkeep of all instrumentation equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, contracts, and clients simultaneously
  • Traveling to project sites are required including occasional overnight stays

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years Experience
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent
  • P.E. or Engineering in Training (EIT) License is preferred
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation equipment
  • Excellent writing and general communication skills
  • Ability to perform field work and carry objects
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
