POSITION SUMMARY :

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and driving the strategic direction of philanthropic support for the SA Hope Center. Working closely with the CEO, the CDO designs, plans, and executes all fundraising activities and events. This includes managing key donors, implementing fundraising and communications initiatives, fostering strategic external relationships, and generating revenue to support the mission of SA Hope. The CDO position is a seasoned leader who will manage strategic development and communications activities and processes to scale the revenue generation and growth of SA Hope Center. This leader will promote the culture and vision of SA Hope Center's core values, including relationship-building, compassion, integrity, and diversity. We are seeking a visionary, innovative, and collaborative leader who will continue to revolutionize the organization's development functions in partnership with the CEO and Board of Directors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Demonstrate alignment and passion for the mission and vision of the SA Hope Center.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to align major gifts, annual fund campaigns, planned giving, endowment activities, and philanthropic support with the organization's strategic goals, objectives, and future plans.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development program to ensure the fulfillment of funding goals, including the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts from individuals and businesses.
  • Build and enhance the infrastructure necessary for the future growth of development and planned giving programs.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the development team and outside contractors, fostering a high-performance culture and nurturing professional growth.
  • Assist in strategic planning and preparation of funding proposals, fundraising materials, and presentations.
  • Articulate funding priorities to individuals and larger audiences during speaking engagements, emphasizing the impact of their contributions.
  • Work in collaboration and partnership with each program director to ensure effective communication and advocacy for the organization’s programs and services and accurate reporting to funders. Develop effective donor communication tools for recognition, stewardship, and solicitation purposes.
  • Drive innovation in fundraising strategies by leveraging technology and exploring cutting-edge approaches.
  • Prioritize personal and professional development to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
  • Play a significant role in communication strategies with donors and prospects, ensuring strong relationships are built and maintained.
  • Create an environment conducive to giving, fostering a culture that supports funding priorities.
  • Ensure that best practices are followed in Development functions and donor management including gift processing, reconciliations and moves management processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)
  • Master's Degree (preferred)
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit development, external relations, communications, or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing major gift cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Ability to conduct research, critically review information, and exercise sound judgment.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    The role may require occasional lifting / carrying of up to 40 pounds, maneuvering in public spaces, and performing tasks that require visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
