What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer position at Sabine Ship Services, Inc.?
We are seeking reliable and dependable General Laborers to perform general facility maintenance duties and hopper barge sweeping/cleaning. These duties include, but are not limited to: General clean up/trash pick-up and disposal; Barge sweeping/pumping/general clean-up. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid, active TWIC card
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have steel-toed boots
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- May be required to operate a forklift/skid steer
- Physical Requirements:
- Walk up to 3 miles per day in the elements (excessive heat, cold, humidity, etc.)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively
- Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs – including climbing in/out of barges
- Climbing stairs and/or ladders and work at high elevations at times (up to 50 ft.)
- Kneeling, crawling, pushing and pulling
- Walking around on uneven, slick, or rocky surfaces
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours (up to 12 hour shifts, 7 days per week)
