The Driver/Material Handler is responsible for operating company vehicles to perform pickups and deliveries as the role's primary function. In addition, this position assists with material handling duties within the facility, including operating a forklift, overhead crane, and pallet jack to move, locate, relocate, and stack items. This role is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of all assigned vehicles and equipment and supporting inventory and material flow processes when not performing driving responsibilities.

This role is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of all assigned vehicles and equipment and supporting inventory and material flow processes when not performing driving responsibilities.
Essential Functions
- Perform pickups and deliveries to customers and vendors using a company van or flatbed truck, ensuring timely and safe transportation of materials and products.
- Manage the flow of containers and material into and out of the department, coordinating logistics and scheduling deliveries/pickups as needed.
- When not driving, unload inbound shipments safely and move products to storage locations. Efficiently stack and store products in designated areas.
- Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products using a forklift, overhead crane, or pallet jack. Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, following prescribed work methods.
- Maintain all assigned vehicles and material handling equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly condition. Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance as required.
- Keep accurate records and reports to maintain inventory control and security, including tracking deliveries and pickups.
- Assist with plant material handling needs, including stocking and removing items from inventory.
- Verify components meet quality requirements from incoming inspection and/or from other departments.
- Assist in production equipment operation and/or sorting product as needed.
- Perform necessary quality inspections and follow documented procedures.
- Assist with training of new team members as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Drivers License
- 1 years of experience with direct experience in a similar position
- Familiarity with material handling equipment
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
- Must have excellent attendance as well as willingness and ability to work overtime
