What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Behavioral Health Services position at Sacopee Valley Health Center?
Sacopee Valley Health Center is seeking a full-time Director of Behavioral Health to oversee our Behavioral Health department.
The Director of Behavioral Health Services provides leadership and supervision to the Behavioral Health Services Team and coordinates specified contracted services; as a licensed as a mental health counselor; provides counseling in the treatment of patients with mental health and substance use related problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Represents the Behavioral Health Services Team while maintaining a global view of organizational needs.
2. Provides administrative oversight and coordination for the following services: Counseling, Health Services, Substance Use Services, Medication-Assisted Treatment Program, Community Health Workers, and Outreach and Enrollment Specialist.
3. Provides professional mental health treatment services to clients with mental health/substance use related problems maintaining a caseload consistent with budget goals. Provides individual therapy, performs psychosocial assessments, provides crisis intervention services to Health Center patients during his/her regular working hours.
4. Provides the necessary assistance to emergencies near SVHC, such as parking lot or sidewalks.
5. Has the ability to provide telehealth from home when necessary.
6. Provides input and guidance, advises and participates in management decision-making processes as appropriate to areas of expertise and organizational responsibilities.
7. Provides input into the Center's budgetary process and manages departmental costs.
8. Attends and participates in Leadership Team meetings.
9. Serves as administrative liaison for any contracted mental health and substance use counselors.
10. Participates in Health Center multi-disciplinary clinical committees to ensure continuity of care for Health Center patients.
11. Provides information and referral assistance to link patients with Health Center, local, state and federal human service and assistance programs.
12. Participates in networking/planning committees as appropriate to SVHC outreach needs.
13. Coordinates mental health, MAT and Psychiatry referrals.
14. Develops other programs, services, and linkages as appropriate to meet the social service needs of Health Center patients.
15. Prepares and maintains necessary electronic records and reports, including up-to-date clinical records and progress notes.
16. Provides case consultation to other Health Center staff as needed or appropriate.
17. Participates in regular group/peer supervision meetings with other Health Center Mental Health Providers.
18. Maintains continuing compliance with Health Center’s credentialing criteria for independent practitioners.
19. Performs the usual duties of a manager, including participating in the recruitment and hiring process, scheduling, supervising, delegating, training, developing and evaluating subordinate staff; conducting staff meetings; resolving human resource issues; maximizing employee performance and morale; and keeping staff informed on goals, expectations and issues.
Requirements
- Applicant must possess a valid State of Maine licensed or be license-eligible.
- Have a master's degree in social work, Counseling or Psychology.
- Have knowledge of professional methods and techniques of mental health counseling.
- At least two years of closely related, professional level experience in the mental health field; prior supervisory/managerial experience required.
- Ability to treat and relate to a varied client population.
- Ability to diagnose various mental health related problems and to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Ability to work independently, as well as a member of the Health Center’s patient care team.
- Strong management skills, ability to work and communicate effectively with Health Center staff, and other health care providers.
Sacopee Valley Health Center (SVHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Porter, Maine. SVHC has been providing care to our communities since 1976. Today you will join a healthcare organization and staff of 90 employees delivering medical, dental, psychiatric and behavioral healthcare to thousands.
