POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting providers with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment scheduling and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Conveys a positive image of clinic. Works under the direction of more senior clinical staff to learn and develop skills. Escalate issues to Clinical Supervisor, Manager, or Director. Responsible for making and scheduling patients’ surgery appointments in an efficient and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Schedule surgeries/procedures and coordinate with the patient, provider and facilities.
- Relays necessary messages to staff
- Verifies referral and/or authorization for the scheduled appointment
- Gathers existing pending authorization request
- Answers telephone, screens calls, take messages, and provide information
- Answers patient questions regarding appointments and testing
- Acts in a courteous manner and maintains composure when dealing with angry or irritated patients
- Maintains database, fax and scan patient history and update patient account information
- Run Point of Service insurance verification for upcoming appointments
- Any other responsibility as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
- High School degree or GED
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant course work or 2 years medical office experience
- Current BCLS (Basic Critical Life Support) certification
- A valid CA Driver’s license is required

Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour
