Position Summary
The Circulation and Interlibrary Loan Supervisor will perform various library circulation functions, including all functions related to Interlibrary loans. Will oversee Monday through Friday’s daily morning operations of the library circulation department, ensuring smooth and efficient handling of materials, patron services, and related tasks. Will also be responsible for using the library system to locate and request materials from other libraries on behalf of patrons who need items not available in our collection.
Regularly works weekdays from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM;
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Circulation Supervisor
Circulation shift supervisor in the morning;
Performs general circulation duties: creates guest user accounts; sends e-mail notices; responds to e-mail queries;
Training and supervising of library work-study students;
Places tangible library materials on reserve, as requested; manages print course reserves and responds to faculty requests and concerns;
Collects building and circulation data as needed;
Manages the Popular Collection and textbook collection as required;
Serves on functional work groups and project teams as directed;
Assists in maintaining a professional, friendly, and welcoming library environment;
Other duties as assigned.
Interlibrary Loan Supervisor
Manages and oversees all aspects of Interlibrary loan for both physical and electronic formats;
Monitors records of Interlibrary loan transactions updates patron accounts, and follows up on outstanding requests;
Maintains and gathers print reserve and print Interlibrary loan statistics and applications;
Uses Interlibrary loan to aid Collection Development;
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes
Bachelor’s degree required
Customer service experience required
Computer literacy is required; experience with library systems is preferred
Careful attention to detail and complex processes
Organizational skills
Ability to work well with staff, faculty, and students
Library experience and supervisory experience preferred
Unusual Working Conditions
Public contact, ability to lift light boxes, and significant usage of computers and information technology.
