MIGRANT SUMMER SCHOOL 2025
Position Title: Instructional Assistant/ Para Pro - 8 Positions Available, Grade K-4th
The 2025 Wahluke Migrant Summer School Model is to provide in-person instruction to qualifying Kinder-4th grade students in reading, mathematics and STEM. Paraeducators would provide instructional and support tasks related to the students’ summer education.
Migrant Summer Program Information:
Professional Development: June 18, 2025
Class Schedule: June 23-July 24, 2025
Hours of Operation: 8:30 am - 2:15pm Monday-Thursday
*Opportunities to assist with home visits for additional hours.
Duties and responsibilities: This list is not an exhaustive list but a sampling of typical duties.
- Tutor students individually or in small groups.
- Give assessments.
- Conference with the supervising teacher to monitor student progress.
- Attend professional development and training as requested/required which may include travel.
- Supervise students when needed.
- Assist in compiling test data and keep required documentation and records.
- Complete required records in a timely manner.
- Willingness to travel to and from home visits and to be in family homes preferred.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS; DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
- Bilingual, Bi-literate Spanish required.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills, being able to relate to students and adults, flexibility.
- Experience and/or Knowledge of language development, reading, math instructional strategies.
- History of reliability, dependability, and punctuality.
- Computer skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Be professional in action and appearance.
- Preference extended to candidates available for the entire length of assignment.
- Passing required State and FBI background checks.
- Valid Washington Driver’s License and insurance if required to drive to home visits
REQUIRED Education:
Must meet state federal guidelines for Instructional Assistants by having an AA degree or 72 quarter hours or 48 semester college credits or documentation of successfully passing the state ETS Basic Skills Test assessment.
