What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Strategist position at Saddleback?
WHAT YOU WILL DO
MARKETING DATA ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH
- Analyze user behavior and metrics across multiple communications channels (i.e. app, email, SMS, social media, website) to evaluate effectiveness of initiatives and provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate with marketing, creative, and reporting & insights stakeholders to set measurable strategies/goals and recommend optimizations. Present recommendations to stakeholders as needed.
- Research and pitch strategies to effectively gather and display data for the different teams we support through marketing.
- Stay informed on trends, tools, and best practices in marketing analytics.
STRATEGIC MARKETING LEADERSHIP
- Develop and deploy communication plans that accomplish ministry goals/objectives and align with the marketing framework of Saddleback Church.
- Lead on strategy to launch new cross-channel marketing campaigns from concept to delivery, including by not limited to: campus launches, campus growth, church-to-church initiatives, ministry-specific strategies, etc.
- Train ministries and campuses on marketing goals and analytics.
PAID ADVERTISING
- Manage paid search (including Google Grant), social, and programmatic ad campaigns.
- Work closely with creatives to create collateral for advertising campaigns.
- Manage budget and track spend for paid advertising.
- Manage ad vendor partners & relationships.
- Perform marketing research needed to build advertising campaigns.
RESOURCING & TRAINING
- Contribute to the development and delivery of ongoing communications tools, templates, and training to support our church (globally, locally at campuses, and specific ministries).
- Train and equip staff & volunteers with effective strategy, systems, and structures that lead to self-sufficiency (globally, locally at campuses, and specific ministries).
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
- Basic understanding of the Saddleback brand, prior experience in church communications, and/or experience in an agency in a similar function
- Proven experience in marketing/data analytics, advertising, strategy, or related field
- The ideal candidate has a sound understanding of marketing principles, effective project management skills, and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to analyze data and connect the dots, making the necessary strategic adjustments for campaigns
- Strong problem-solving and verbal/written communication skills with an ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Highly organized, detailed, and solution-oriented
- Loves working in collaborative environments and has the desire for continuous learning
- Excellent understanding of digital marketing metrics and KPIs
- Experience with paid advertising campaigns on Google and Meta
- Proficiency in Google Workplace is required
- Proficiency in analytics tools is required (Google Analytics, Power BI, or similar platforms)
- Experience with social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram
- An understanding of SEM/SEO
- Familiarity with marketing automation tools and CRM systems is a plus
- High School/GED Required
- College Required

Saddleback Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity and budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. The estimated pay rate for this position is $69,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience. We will provide a pay rate within our salary structure that fits a candidate’s qualifications and experience for the job. The posted wage range does not guarantee a specific job offer.
