JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Metals Trader role includes managing existing accounts, identifying new opportunities, and driving company growth. This position collaborates closely with the trading department to increase market share, margin, and overall profitability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Account Management: Managing designated consumers and suppliers accounts.
- Relationship Building: Establishing and maintaining connections with various stakeholders in the industry, including consumers, suppliers, industry professionals, and other relevant parties.
- Prospecting for Opportunities: Conducting market research, identifying potential customers or markets, staying updated on market trends and industry developments, and evaluating the feasibility and profitability of potential opportunities.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report on market information
- Perform site visits to consumers and suppliers
- Attend designated industry conferences
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of scrap metal grades.
- Thorough knowledge of overall scrap industry.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records.
- Excellent sales, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with customers.
- Knowledgeable about company’s products and services, and customer-related policies.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to operate general office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, scanners, and copier.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
- Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals (RFPs).
- Basic understanding of clerical and administrative procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- At least five to seven years of related experience.
- Required
- Associate’s degree or vocational training in business, or related field
- Preferred
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to regularly travel.
