Job Overview:
Safe-Guard’s actuarial team is expanding and looking for a new Actuarial Intern to join our Risk team. Safe-Guard is the leading provider of automotive warranties in North America, providing automotive warranty to a wide variety of clients including: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, GM, and many more.
As an actuarial intern at Safe-Guard, you will contribute to day-to-day operations and various projects alongside experienced pricing and reserving actuaries. During the 10-week program, you will experience the broader auto industry through the lens of the product providers, automotive dealerships, and our OEM partners and see, first hand, what makes Safe-Guard the leading provider of warranty products in the space. The internship provides a unique opportunity to obtain core actuarial knowledge, foster critical business acumen, and develop the meaningful network and connections necessary for the new-age Actuary.
The internship will be based in our Atlanta office. Following the completion of the program, interns may be considered for an analyst role beginning in the following summer.

Potential Responsibilities:
- Assist the pricing team in developing and participating in Quarterly Business Reviews with our key partners.
- Support the reserving team in underwriting forecasting and analysis surrounding profit shares and cancellation liabilities.
- Utilize Power BI and Tableau to build and enhance dashboards for both internal and external reporting.
- Preparing and cleansing of data using SQL and Excel to analyze portfolio trends and produce analytical exhibits addressing ad-hoc client requests.
- Collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including: Accounting, Finance, Sales, Analytics, Underwriting, and external partners.
- Desire for rapid learning via doing, high performance, and professional growth.
- Proven analytical skills as normally acquired through the pursuit of a B.S. or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Commitment to passing actuarial exams and pursuing the ACAS designation.
- Experience working in excel; proficiency in SQL preferred though not required.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to work as effectively in a team setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in Tableau, Power BI, or comparable analytics tool is a plus.
