The facility electrician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the marina’s business goals and objectives. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain building, shipyard, and marina electrical service utilities.
  • Repair and maintain electrical power distribution equipment including portable power cords and distribution boxes.  
  • Perform vessel shore power connections and disconnections.
  • Performs preventive maintenance work orders according to schedule.
  • Repair and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Repair and maintain cooling towers and assorted pumps.  
  • Repair and maintain all service utilities in and around the facility.
  • Repair and maintain stationary and portable power tools.  
  • Perform general maintenance on various building equipment such as AC and Air handlers, elevators, plumbing, and modular office equipment.  
  • Assist with set up and break down of special events  
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Competencies

  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair performance issues on a wide range of electrical equipment including but not limited to three phase power systems, motors, generators, and transformers.
  • Ability to install equipment, machines, electrical wiring, or program equipment per specifications. 
  • Knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out System and applicable electrical safety precautions.
  • Must be able to read schematics and diagrams.
  • Understand written and spoken English.
  • Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed for a job.
  • Possess a positive attitude with people and wide range situation/requests. 

Experience

  • 2 years of electrical maintenance experience
  • Electrical Trade certificate and/or marine electrical experience is a plus.

 Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. 

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous marina experience preferred
  • Ability to work safely around the water
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred
  • Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred
  • Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
