What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Auditor position at Safe Harbor Marinas?
The Staff Internal Auditor will assist to execute the Internal Audit plan with a focus on Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal control and assisting with value-added projects to help the organization accomplish its objectives. This position will document and test controls, conclude on their effectiveness and develop reports to communicate the results to management. This position will work with all levels of management and must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with audit scope and conducts independent internal audits of risk management, corporate processes, marina operations, regulatory compliance requirements, technology capabilities, and process effectiveness
- Ability to draw logical conclusions from control testing performed as well as effectively communicate those recommendations to management
- Reports audit results and recommendations regarding appropriateness of policies, controls, and compliance with established operating standards to focus department activities and management attention on potential risk areas
- Collects and analyzes data to identify risks, process breakdowns and trends that reduce quality and accuracy
- Support group deliverables for management and compliance reporting requirements
- Ability to travel approximately 30%
- Perform other duties as assigned
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
- Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA, CIA or CFE or working towards certification with commitment to complete certification within 1 year of hire
- One (1) to three (3) years of public accounting and/or internal audit industry experience
- One (1) year Sarbanes-Oxley experience
- Understanding of internal control frameworks, audit standards, GAAP accounting concepts, and Sarbanes-Oxley
- Data analytic skills; ability to retrieve system data, summarize, classify, identify trends and outliers, interpret, present, and report.
- Knowledge and experience with AuditBoard, Galvanize/ACL, NetSuite and/or Blackline is a plus
