What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Monday Shelter Advocate position at Safe Haven of Pender, Inc.?
- Hiring for Mondays 4pm-8pm, possible other days as needed and available.
- Assist with childcare during Group Sessions from 6 pm - 7 pm.
- Manage the 24-hour Crisis Line.
- Document and track all crisis line calls and take appropriate action.
- Advocates for the mission of Safe Haven and upholds the agency’s values.
- Ensure clients are complying with program guidelines and procedures.
- Delivers services with safety, respect, and effectiveness.
- Assess client needs and offer assistance in every manner practical.
- Monitors client behavior. Follows all policies and procedures of Safe Haven.
- Review Policy & guidelines with clients at the time of entrance.
- Prepare rooms for clients.
- Monitors and maintains chores, meal preparation, and laundry schedules.
- Maintains a chaotic free shelter environment; and assists in keeping the shelter clean and free of spills, trash, and safety hazards.
- Checks daily activities (goals from ITP), and chores as assigned to clients.
- Perform daily room checks.
- Prepare intake packages.
- Receive and put away donations on your shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the shelter manager.
- Provide an immediate and professional response to any security /safety emergency or disturbance within or immediately outside the facility.
- Complete all agency logs and incident reports in a timely manner.
- Enter EVERY client contact in Safe Haven’s client database.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Experience in the Human Services or related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bi-Lingual in Spanish a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work well independently. Must work well under pressure.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Committed to working with victims of domestic violence.
- Must be flexible. Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment.
- Computer knowledge.
- Must possess a high degree of common sense.
- Must be empathetic and caring.
