Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-oriented Service Writer to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive services, ensuring that their needs are met with professionalism and efficiency. You will utilize your mechanical knowledge to effectively communicate service requirements and assist in the repair process, contributing to a high level of customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Greet customers and assess their service needs, providing excellent customer service throughout the process.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to diagnose issues and recommend appropriate services, including diesel engine repair, air brake services, oil changes, and tire services.
- Prepare accurate auto estimates for repairs and maintenance tasks based on customer requests and vehicle assessments.
- Maintain clear communication with customers regarding the status of their vehicles and any additional services required.
- Collaborate with mechanics and technicians to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards.
- Handle sales transactions efficiently while promoting additional services that may benefit the customer.
- Keep detailed records of customer interactions, service orders, and vehicle history for future reference.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role within an automotive dealership or repair shop setting is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a background in diesel engine repair or related fields.
- Familiarity with air brake systems and other automotive components is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on building relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
- Ability to perform auto estimating accurately and efficiently.
- Strong sales aptitude to promote services effectively while maintaining integrity.
- A team player who can communicate clearly with both customers and technical staff.
- Previous experience as a mechanic or in a related technical field is a plus.
