Job Summary
The Senior Commercial Installation Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing security systems in commercial settings. These systems may include video surveillance, access control, alarm systems, and other integrated security solutions. This position involves working directly with clients, leading installation teams, and ensuring high-quality service while adhering to company policies and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install and configure commercial security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, alarm systems, and other integrated security devices.
- Perform site surveys to determine the best locations for devices and system setups based on client needs.
- Conduct system tests to ensure proper functionality, including power, network, and hardware components.
- Troubleshoot and repair security systems when necessary, identifying issues such as wiring problems, sensor malfunctions, or software failures.
- Test system software, perform firmware updates, and calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Communicate with clients to understand their security needs and recommend appropriate systems and configurations.
- Provide technical support and training to clients on system operation and maintenance.
- Address client concerns or issues related to installations, upgrades, or repairs, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Guide and mentor junior technicians and installation teams, offering assistance on best practices, installation techniques, and safety protocols.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and upgrades to existing security systems.
- Recommend system enhancements or replacements to clients based on technological advancements or changes in security needs.
- Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting to maintain the systems' optimal functioning.
- Confirm all installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry standards for security systems.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and service calls.
- Complete and submit service reports, work orders, and time logs promptly.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, codes, and standards.
- Ensure all safety guidelines are followed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Other duties as business needs require.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications preferred.
- Strong experience with electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, gate operators, intrusion detection, fire alarms, and other low-voltage technologies.
- Solid networking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Salesforce preferred.
- Skilled at reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Leads by example and demonstrates mentoring abilities.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to pass drug screening and background requirements.
- Pass a drug screen and background check.
- Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets insurance requirements. Maintain compliance with SafeTouch's fleet driving policy.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including potential overnight stays and travel to various project sites.
Physical Requirements
- Work inside and outside, including attics, crawl spaces, and roofs.
- Remain stationary at a desk, standing, and moving from place to place for prolonged periods.
- Move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Observe details at close range.
- Handle products, take notes, operate technology, and present information.
- Read documents and presentations using electronic devices and hard copy materials while interacting with others.
- Exchange accurate information in person, over the phone, in writing, and electronically.

- Overtime as business needs require.
- On-call on a rotational basis.
