The Weekend Program Coordinator is an essential member of the Safetyville team supporting programs to reduce injuries and save lives by providing engaging, educational experiences for children and community members in our unique, tiny village.
The Weekend Program Coordinator performs a variety of assigned duties to help create positive client experiences from scheduling and delivering programs, reaching out to the community, and building volunteer support for education and events at Safetyville.
As the front line of our community education department on weekends, you will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with the Safetyville staff, visitors, partners, and supporters, and suggest improvements to Safetyville that could enhance our programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Program Delivery
- Lead birthday party/other event rentals and Open Play & Exploration programs following the Safetyville program processes and party contract.
- Collaborate in the planning and execution of Safetyville activities and events to increase awareness and reinforce lifelong safe and healthy decision-making.
Administration
- Create amazing real-time experiences for our community at Safetyville by performing opening and closing duties, ensuring all interactive exhibits are in working condition, preparing materials as needed, answering community inquiries.
- Compile and maintain all records of business transactions and office activities related to the weekend operations of the department.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for weekend program staff during scheduled shifts.
- May occasionally be asked to serve as an on-call escalation point for issues including staff callouts to ensure coverage in department during Executive Director or Program Support Specialist absences.
Maintenance:
- Light maintenance projects as assigned within the Safetyville village.
- Perform general upkeep of Safetyville facilities (Office space, village and restrooms) to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for Safetyville guests, including removing trash, sweeping/mopping or spills, wiping down tables after use, restroom facility emergency issues and restocking restroom supplies..
Other duties as required to meet the needs of our clients, our employees, and Safety Center as a whole.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and the Microsoft Office Suite of products. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, postage meter and telephone.
