SMG is seeking a Facilities Planner in the Indianapolis, Indiana, area.
As a Facilities Planner, you will assist in the architectural and interior design for small projects under $1M, maintain record documents, manage space processes and controls, and develop/maintain design standards. Additional responsibilities include computer-aided facilities management (CAFM). When required, assist in architecture and interior design for workspace projects. When needed, collaborate with onsite business partners, internal construction project managers, Site Services disciplines, and design consultants.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in the architectural and interior design for small projects less than $1M.
- Adhere to the Corporate Guidelines for architecture, furniture, and signage as part of corporate identity and adhere to other directives.
- Collaborate with internal business area point of contact, internal construction project managers, furniture/move coordinator, and other Site Services disciplines (engineering/safety health & environmental/security/hospitality/facilities).
- Collaborate and coordinate with external design consultants and vendors.
- Actively collaborates with the business areas to implement and adhere to the space planning strategy across campus and support the Strategic Master Plan.
- Identifies the needs of business areas to develop the scope of work for small projects that cost less than $1M.
- Assist in analyzing pre- and post-occupancy data derived from occupancy sensors/software to determine space occupancy in office environments.
- Responsible for maintaining the record documentation process and base building drawings. Assists consultants in implementing and ongoing maintenance of these systems.
- Responsible for executing the Facilities Maintenance scorecard and maintaining the global space reporting metrics for the Indianapolis campus.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Architecture Technology, Interior Design, Construction Technology, or Facilities Management, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design or Facility Management.
- 3-5 years of practical experience in architectural and interior design functions for the design and realization of projects <$1M.
- Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of AutoCAD and familiarity with Revit software.
- Familiar with Facilities Management Software (such as Archibus), Google office products, Room Scheduling software, and Project Documentation storage software (such as Autodesk Construction Cloud) is preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task multiple projects with varying scopes of responsibility.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work with a wide range of Business Partners (both locally and globally), vendors, contractors, and other groups.
Physical Demands of the job may include
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Manual dexterity is needed for typing and other repetitive tasks
- Must speak accurately and informally on the phone or in person
