General Summary: This position is responsible for leading a Department of the Distribution Center in support of company goals. Provide input and feedback on all Smith Outbound operations, processes, and results. This role involves creating/planning and executing the daily plan for a department of the Distribution Center. The manager will manage a team of supervisors, leads, and associates to achieve operational goals.

Essential Job Functions
- Manage and leads the department in a technical, fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Evaluate overall operations and set short and long-term goals aligned with organizational objectives.
- Provide process improvement recommendations to the DC Senior Manager and implement process improvement action plans within the department. Conducts routine departmental analysis on functions, processes, and asset utilization (equipment, resources, and labor) and communicates results of the departmental analysis.
- Direct and manage all operations for department, (i.e. picking, packing, shipping, loading)
- Ensure timely and accurate processing to meet departmental KPI’s and budget guidelines/goals
- Develop and implement operational procedures and policies to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
- Train operational personnel in job-specific tasks and hold them accountable for performance and attendance.
- Ensure departmental standards, such as forecast and schedule accuracy, are met or exceeded each day/week and month.
- Deliver effective and efficient solutions by researching/analyzing complex issues and opportunities and making recommendations with focus on Outbound.
- Contribute to the success of the team by encouraging open communication, innovation, teamwork and a high level of professionalism.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs in the DC and the ability to lead others through changes.
- Direct multiple people and tasks simultaneously, ability to prioritize tasks according to importance.

- Proficiency with MS Office including Excel for reporting.

- Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years experience in Distribution Center operations, Logistics, Warehouse setting, and at least 3 years in a management role.
- At least 2 yrs. Of WMS experience (preferred; SAP)
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Outstanding communication, excellent leadership, delegation and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and confidential.
- Additional education in logistics or supply management is a plus.
