What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math and Science Tutor position at Sage Educators, Inc.?
ABOUT:
We are looking for tutors with a strong background in math and science. Ideal candidates will be able to jump right into advanced algebra, precalc, chemistry and biology, to name a few.
Sage Educators is a Marin County, California, based tutoring and test-prep organization comprised of the smartest, coolest, and hippest educators in Marin. (Seriously ... just ask us!) We are looking for bright, dynamic people to join our staff.
This is not your typical tutoring job. At Sage, you will be part of a full-time team with a common goal: to create a dynamic educational community wherein our students can relax, focus, and thrive. In this time of shifting landscape, students and families are craving a personal education more than ever. Our educators will bring this personal touch by engaging with students in a lively yet focused way, ensuring their academic needs are met while also ensuring they have a mentor to lean on when times are tough and in times of celebration!
As a member of our team, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to Sage's curriculum and business development, which can include marketing, community outreach, volunteer coordination and supporting our non profit, Sage Educators Foundation. During school breaks we offer science day camps for our curious nature enthusiasts and outdoor educators.
Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in an active environment with a friendly staff and specialized clientele. Whether you've always been interested in education, or are just exploring various career paths, we promise your time at Sage will be fulfilling. Opportunities in teaching, mentoring, tutoring, marketing, grant writing, admin and customer service, to name a few, make Sage Educators the perfect place to launch your professional career. Join us!
We provide a challenging and friendly work environment. Merit is recognized and rewarded at Sage Educators with steady pay increases and expanded opportunities.
APPLICATIONS:
If you are looking for a fun and rewarding work environment, please apply directly on our website at https://sageeducators.com/careers/. No phone calls, please.
Sage Educators is an EOE.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates MUST have a college degree and stellar academic credentials. Qualifying tests are administered to all applicants. Extensive experience working with groups of elementary and middle school students in an educational and childcare setting is highly desirable, as is upper level math and science knowledge. But if you're an expert in another field, please don't be shy. We're looking for a wide range of skills and experience to ensure we have the right fit tutor for every student who walks in our doors.
This is a full-time position. During the school year, our tutors work between 30 and 40 hours per week. Tutoring hours are paid at a higher rate than administrative hours. Please note that, when school is in session, our office operates on non traditional schedule: Sundays noon-8pm and Mondays-Thursdays 2-10pm.
Our training period is meant to familiarize new tutors with our particular pedagogical approach and to bring our tutors up to speed with any shaky concepts. However, applicants must have a strong foundation from which to start.
We ask that tutors have an honest expectation that they will be able to work through June 2025 and if it's the right fit, we hope you'll stay longer!
