Job Description
Reports To : Assistant Director of Special Education (or designee)
FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
School Classification : Certificated
Pay Range : Range 7 ($48.88 / hr -$68.96 / hr)
Work Schedule : 190 days / 11 months
Location : Onsite and Remote Office
Position Summary : The special education academic assessor completes a thorough initial evaluation, additional assessments and eligibility evaluations within the schools, state, and federal guidelines and develops legally compliant assessment reports and IEPs. Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with all other school personnel and parents while maintaining confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts and / or arranges formal and informal student assessment and participates in the development of students' individual programs and services
- Utilizes comprehensive assessment results in developing appropriate IEP goals and objectives to accommodate the wide variety of individual needs of each student
- Acts as a point person for families going through the Initial assessment process
- Supports general and special education program staff regarding all policies and procedures
- Submits academic assessment results upon completion of testing for the IEP meeting in the format determined by the department
- Collaborates with Special Education case managers throughout the IEP development process and offer recommendations, when applicable, related to goals and / or services based on assessment results
- Attends all Initial IEP meetings, write all Initial IEPs, and act as case manager for all Initial IEPs until qualification has been determined
- Monitors the SPED support email and answer all inquiries within 24 hours
- Monitors and oversee the Sage Oak assessment spreadsheet, keeping aware of timelines and APs generated for all initial, additional, and eligibility evaluations
- Ability to service students in-home, if necessary
