What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk - Medical Office position at Sage Specialty Care?
Small but busy medical clinic is looking for a dynamic personable candidate with great multitasking skills and medical background to cover the front desk. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Check patients in.
- Download patient BG meters and Insulin Pump data and transfer reports to charts
- Verify health insurance coverage
- Determine and collect copayments and balance due from patients
- Answer phones
- Look up lab results and import them to the patient charts
- Do Prior Authorizations for prescriptions
- Handle patient inquiries and problems
- Scan forms and other documents to patient charts
- Call patients to confirm appointments

Being able to work efficiently and intelligently is #1 priority. You will be expected to accomplish a lot every day. Applicants will:
- understand Health Insurance terms (deductible, copay, coinsurance, etc.)
- be very comfortable with computers and software applications.
- be able to learn quickly.
- be good at problem solving.
- be comfortable with moving electronic documents from one application to another.
- know MS Word, Excel.
- be personable and know how to talk with people in a friendly and helpful manner; without wasting time.
- work well with coworkers and as a team member.
Hours will be 7:00 - 5:30 Mon-Thu; with 1/2 hour off for lunch every day. We are closed Fridays (3-day weekends!).
Additional requirements:
- Willingness to work later on some days required.
- Must be able to type at least 20 WPM
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, efficiently and continuously is required.
- Medical background is desirable. Willingness to learn about our specialty is very important.
- This is not a job for a lazy person. It will be hard work, but rewarding, stimulating, and challenging.
